Dr. Miles was recently featured in the Houston Chronicle’s ReNew Houston for our ground-breaking work!

A lot of patients come to us with slow-growing cancer in the prostate. For many of these patients, intensive surgery with major life-changing implications, like prostatectomy, may not be the best solution. There is a solution through high-intensity focused ultrasound machines or HIFU treatment. With HIFU, Dr. Miles can map the entire region, tell the machine exactly where to start and treat only the areas needed. The precision is incredible and the results, even better! It is an out-patient procedure and the recovery is mild with patients reporting little pain.

Houston is very lucky that Methodist is one of the few institutions in the country with HIFU programs available. Additionally, Dr. Miles is widely known as being very skilled and experienced with this treatment option. If you think HIFU may be an option for you or your patient, give us a call.
